Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or commensurate experience

  • Restaurant accounting experience preferred

  • Software experience with Toast, MarginEdge, and QuickBooks preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities

  • Working knowledge and flexibility to operate in different industries

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations for the group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across processes. Key tasks include:

    • Monitor and manage general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and taxes

    • Supervise, review and direct the work of accounting staff

    • Manage all financial reporting, including monthly financial statements and budget analysis, quarterly reports, and ad hoc reports as necessary

    • Performing monthly reconciliations for bank transactions, inventories, sales, and gift cards

    • Facilitating year-end closing procedures and preparing adjusting journal entries

    • Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements

  • Participate in weekly operational meetings to stay aligned with business objectives

  • Oversee weekly sales reports and collaborate with the controller on special reporting requests

  • Implement and document accounting processes for improved efficiency

  • Work closely with the controller, business colleagues, CPA firm, and other external partners as needed

Position Overview:

Part of the Nicholas Family of Companies, Big Fish Hospitality Group is the parent company to two restaurants - Big Fish’s Icehouse (located within the Nicholas Sportsplex) and The Prospect. The group has four additional restaurant and event space concepts due to open in fall of 2025 and 2026. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting activities of the company. In addition, the Accounting Manager will be tasked to develop, create and implement new accounting processes, including documentation and reporting, to guide strategic financial and operational decision-making.
