Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field
Proven minimum 3-5 years’ experience in interior design, with a focus on multifamily residential projects
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar tools
Strong design portfolio showcasing previous multi-family residential projects
Knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and sustainable design practices
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Professional certification (e.g., NCIDQ) and membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g., ASID, IIDA) Preferred
Experience with project management software and tools Preferred
Familiarity with fabric, furniture, and accessories selection for multifamily applications Preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
Design Development
Develop and conceptualize design proposals for multifamily residential projects, focusing on common areas, unit interiors, and amenities.
Produce detailed design drawings, mood boards, and 3D renderings to clearly and effectively convey design concepts to clients and stakeholders.
Client Collaboration
Collaborate closely with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and vision for each project.
Present design concepts and modifications, actively incorporating client feedback and responding to their input.
Space Planning
Apply space planning techniques to optimize functionality and flow in residential units and common areas.
Ensure designs comply with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Material and Finish Selection
Research and select materials, furnishings, fixtures, and finishes that align with project budgets while enhancing the overall design aesthetic.
Source and coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for the procurement of design elements.
Team Collaboration
Work alongside architects, engineers, and construction teams to ensure the feasibility and correct implementation of designs.
Coordinate project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery.
Project Management
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, tracking progress, deadlines, and budgets to ensure successful completion.
Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and address any design-related issues that arise.
Industry Awareness
Keep up to date with industry trends, materials, and techniques in interior design, especially for multi-family residential environments.
Participate in industry events, workshops, and training to continuously enhance skills and knowledge.
Position Overview:
The Interior Designer plays a key role in crafting thoughtful, functional, and visually appealing interior spaces for multifamily residential projects, as well as other initiatives across the Nicholas Family of Companies. This position involves working closely with clients, architects, and construction teams to develop innovative living environments that enhance the resident experience, all while adhering to budget and timeline constraints.
